I once had a lap chicken named Snowy. I kind of miss her. I can't wait to hear more about your feathered friends!Yomihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17113867969228210389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764223022607739789.post-79734190861726072522011-06-06T13:57:46.821-05:002011-06-06T13:57:46.821-05:00These are great names! Like, I'll tell my husband "I was out in the chicken yard and the red hen, no, not that one, the mean one, she..." So they all get a name anyway, even if it's "The Mean One" or "The Super Hunter" or whatever.
Your Ms. Thang sounds a lot like our Black Star pullet. ;)
As far as your Rock Star - perhaps you should just go for it. I think the chicken in the grocery store is around 8-12 weeks old at butchering? I'd love for you to photo document your experiences. We were planning on processing birds this year, but I... er... chickened out... at the last minute since I knew I'd be 8 and a half months pregnant at butchering time. So next year for us. :)Anisahttp://lazyhomesteader.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764223022607739789.post-79243697349712009702011-05-29T22:26:28.892-05:002011-05-29T22:26:28.892-05:00It was nice "meeting" all the chickens! ...It was nice "meeting" all the chickens! I love how you described all their little personalities. I can't stand the way the Rock Star's breed is raised. It is sad and disgusting. You are giving your girls such an important lesson! The Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07088613315793599726noreply@blogger.com
